Stsase Mini Waist Fan with 10000mAh Review

Today, we're diving into the Stsase Mini Waist Fan with a 10000mAh battery for an in-depth review of its performance and value.

It offers more than just a refreshing breeze; it's a portable, wearable accessory that effortlessly clips onto your waistband or clothing hem, providing you with a cooling companion wherever you go.

With three adjustable speed settings, it delivers a strong airflow while remaining impressively quiet.

The ergonomic design ensures comfort, and its durable polymer plastic construction can withstand the rigors of outdoor adventures like hiking, fishing, or camping.

This fan isn't just a practical tool; it's a must-have for anyone seeking relief from the heat while on the move.

The shape reminds me of that of a pager from the 90s (anyone else remember those??).

Dimensions: 1.7 inches in diameter (1.7"D), 3 inches in width (3"W), and 4.2 inches in height (4.2"H)

It's certainly small enough to store in any tool or tackle box.

3 Ways to Wear the Fan

There are three versatile ways to wear the Stsase mini waist fan, each offering unique benefits and usage scenarios.

Waistband Clip
The thicker clip is designed to attach the fan securely to your waistband. This method allows for hands-free cooling, making it perfect for various outdoor activities like gardening, hiking, or working on a jobsite.

By fastening the fan to your waistband, you can enjoy a consistent and refreshing breeze while keeping your hands free for tasks. This is particularly useful when you need to stay cool while working or on the move.

This option can be useful for those who wear cargo pants to work or utility belts over their jeans while on the job.

Clothing Hem Clip
The thinner clip is intended to be attached to the hem of your clothing from the front. This provides versatility in positioning the fan at different angles and heights.

You can adjust it to direct the airflow precisely where you want it, making it suitable for situations where you desire more control over the cooling effect. Whether you're out for a walk, attending an outdoor event, or simply relaxing, this clip allows for customizable comfort.

This option might be the one you go with if you want to attach this to the collar of your golf shirt or workout top.

Lanyard Necklace Style
The third option involves using the included lanyard to hang the fan around your neck. With the fan facing upward, it can blow cool air toward your face, offering a refreshing breeze on hot days.

This method is great for leisure activities like strolls, picnics, or outdoor gatherings when you want to keep your neck and face cool without holding the fan. It's also ideal for situations where you want to maintain a comfortable temperature while keeping your hands completely free.

Regardless of how you wear it, keep in mind that the front where the air is drawn in must be free of obstruction so if you have a bit of a belly, you might clip this to the side of your pants instead of the front or you could clip it to a shirt or jacket. The air blows out of the top and that also needs to be clear so you can feel the air flow.

Battery and Run Time

This fan comes with a 10000mAh battery. Lots of the more stylish personal fans have smaller batteries. This one may not be pretty but it's highly functional.

If you spend hours at a time outside in hot conditions and need a fan to keep you cool, it's advisable to choose the fan with the 10,000mAh battery.

Here's why:

  • Longer Operating Time: The primary advantage of a larger battery capacity, such as 10,000mAh, is that it allows the fan to run for an extended period without needing a recharge. This is crucial when you're outdoors for extended hours and need continuous cooling.

  • More Powerful Airflow: While the battery capacity itself doesn't directly affect the fan's airflow, a fan with a larger battery often has more powerful motor options. This means it can provide a stronger and more sustained airflow, which is better at keeping you cool in hot conditions.

  • Flexibility: A fan with a 10,000mAh battery gives you the flexibility to use it for extended periods without worrying about recharging frequently. It can run at higher speeds, generating more airflow and providing better relief from the heat.

  • Convenience: With a fan that has a 10,000mAh battery, you won't need to carry extra power sources or worry about recharging as often. This convenience is especially valuable when you're engaged in outdoor activities or work for hours at a time.
While the battery capacity is not the only factor affecting airflow (the fan's motor and blade design play a role), a larger battery often accompanies a more robust fan, enhancing both operating time and airflow.

So, in this scenario, opting for the fan with a 10,000mAh battery is a wise choice to ensure you stay comfortably cool during your extended outdoor activities.

There are 3 speed settings:

  • Low runs at 3800 rpm and can run 24 hours

  • Medium runs at 4400 rpm and can run 12 hours

  • High runs at 5500 rpm and can run 6 hours
I couldn't understand why the HIgh speed setting would last only 25% the run time of the Low setting even though it was operating at less than twice the rpm.

Here's why that's the case: The battery drain rate at different fan speeds is not solely determined by the fan's RPM (Revolutions Per Minute), but rather by the complex relationship between RPM, power consumption, and the fan's motor efficiency.

Here's an explanation of why the battery drains faster at higher speeds:

  • Power Consumption: When a fan operates at higher speeds, it requires more power to maintain the increased RPM. Power consumption is not linearly related to RPM; it increases exponentially. The fan motor has to work harder against air resistance to achieve higher RPM, which results in higher power draw.

  • Efficiency: Electric motors, including those in fans, are not perfectly efficient. They generate heat as they operate, and this heat increases with higher RPMs. Less efficient motors at higher speeds contribute to increased power consumption.

  • Aerodynamic Resistance: As a fan blade spins faster, it encounters greater aerodynamic resistance. To overcome this resistance and maintain a higher RPM, the motor needs to work even harder, consuming more energy.
Let's break down the numbers you provided to illustrate this:

  • Low Speed (3800 RPM) for 24 hours: This is the most energy-efficient mode. The fan's motor operates at a relatively low RPM, requiring less power, and it can run for a longer duration.

  • Medium Speed (4400 RPM) for 12 hours: As you increase the speed to medium, the RPM goes up, and the power consumption increases. However, since it's still not at the highest speed, it lasts longer than the high-speed setting.

  • High Speed (5100 RPM) for 6 hours: At the highest speed, the fan's motor draws significantly more power due to the need to overcome greater resistance and maintain a high RPM. This results in a much shorter operating time compared to the lower speeds.

In summary, the relationship between fan speed, RPM, and battery life is not linear. Higher speeds consume exponentially more power due to factors like motor efficiency and aerodynamic resistance. That's why the fan drains the battery much faster at high speed than at low speed, despite the RPM difference not being proportionate to the reduction in battery life.

Noise Level

If you're looking to use this at a construction site, the noise level might not matter to you. However, if you're using this for fishing and you want to generate as little noise as possible, then understanding the decibels generated by the Stsase fan might be of greater interest.

This one operates at ≤57dB. To put that into perspective, normal conversation at a close distance is typically around 60-70dB. So, the fan is quieter than talking to someone nearby.

Material

These small fans are frequently made with some form of plastic. The Stsase fan is made of polymer plastic while other models might be made of ABS.

Both are types of thermoplastic material used in various products, including fans and other consumer goods. Each material has its own characteristics and advantages, so whether one is better or worse depends on the specific application and requirements.

"Polymer plastic" is a general term that encompasses a wide range of plastics, and it doesn't refer to a specific type or composition.

The properties of polymer plastics can vary widely depending on the specific type used. Different polymers have different levels of strength, flexibility, durability, and resistance to environmental factors.

Some are known for their lightweight nature, resistance to corrosion, and affordability and that may be why it was used for this product.
